WITHDRAWN Important Pennsylvania or Maryland Chippendale cherry high chest dated 1767, the broken arch bonnet with urn and flame finials and floral rosettes, above a tympanum with shell carved drawer and applied floral sprays, above five short and three long drawers flanked by fluted quarter columns, resting on a base with one long and three short drawers, the center one with shell carving, all above a scalloped skirt supported by cabriole legs carved with parrot heads clutching sprigs in their beaks, terminating in ball and claw feet, the backboard of the bonnet inscribed SG 1767 October 15, and the drawer divider in the lower section inscribed Made by S. Henszey, retaining its original brass hardware and old surface, 90 1/2" h., 41" w. A nearly identical high chest is in the collection of Yale University and is illustrated in Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: American Art from the Yale University Art Gallery, frontispiece and fig. 12.
