North Carolina redware dish, early 19th c., attrib

North Carolina redware dish, early 19th c., attributed to Solomon Loy of Alamance County, with yellow, green, and brown slip decoration with a central philphlot within a sawtooth border and floral sprig on the outer edge, 10 1/4" dia. Two similar examples in the collection of the Barnes Foundation are illustrated in Beckerdite and HunterCeramics in America, figs. 40 and 41. Provenance: Sotheby's, January 16, 1999, lot 296; The Stradlings, November 1999.

Condition:Old chips/flaking to rim. Some sporadic wear to center.
